Kipp is having one hell of a time after graduating from college. Subbing jobs are pretty inconsistent and desperate times call for desperate measures. Then he sees Jesse working at the mall, the guy he grew up with but never had the courage to talk to. Can these two finally connect after all these years? Is this nightmarish job going to give him the best present of all…an opportunity to get to know the crush he’s had most of his life?

Paper Cuts and Mistletoe

At the end of Full Disclosure on Black Friday, Chaddrick announced he got a job as a gift wrapper and in this story, that’s where we meet Kipp. He’s Chaddrick’s co-worker who has a horrible habit of getting paper cuts. Jesse is a handyman who works around the store Kipp and Chaddrick wrap gifts for. Kipp has known, and had a crush on, Jesse for years because they grew up in the same town. Chaddrick seeing not just Kipp’s interest but Jesse’s, pushes Kipp to make a move but it isn’t until his way home when he stops at a diner and sees Jesse there that he finally tries to talk to him. But when Jesse learns that Kipp has no plans for Christmas, too, he’s all too eager to invite Kipp over for some holiday cheer.
Awww man, I really loved this story! I’m such a sucker for holiday stories especially when it’s about work-related crushes. I loved Kipp because he was sort of a hot mess when it came to not getting injured but I loved even more that Jesse was so worried about a simple paper cut. There’s not much depth to their characters but it was easy to see that they both had feelings for one another and when they finally allow themselves to act on those feelings, they became the most adorable couple.
My issue is the same as it was for the first two books: I WANTED IT TO BE LONGER! These two were so adorable together, I would have loved to see more of them after they spend Christmas together and where things go from here.
In the end, another great but short story in the Holiday Jobs that Don’t Suck series. So far, all of them have been light-hearted, good fun stories and I’m really enjoying that burst of adorableness these stories give. I loved Kipp and Jesse, especially since they came from the same town, which is states away. I wished it had been LONGER but I’m looking forward to seeing what other couples get stories in this series :)

Sweet Christmas Tale

It's Christmas and to make ends meet, new teacher, Kipp, takes a part-time job in the gift wrapping department at a store. Unfortunately, he's prone to paper cuts, but he makes good friends, earns a little money and is able to ogle his crush since childhood, Jesse. When a blizzard pushes them closer together, they discover their feelings run much deeper than either expected.
This is another sweet story about new love from Jackie Nacht! I liked getting to know these characters and their shyness towards one another was endearing. I wish the story could have been a little longer just because I wanted to see more from this cute couple.
