cute love story

So Miss Marks is a good writer. Her love stories keep you reading more and more and all the twists just keep you going too. I read "His Kiss" first and fell in love. So I figured I'd give this one ago about Nicole and Matt. (And the fact that there was more of his kiss at the end). It was cute. I enjoyed it... I just noticed a few things....
1) the change of story telling. At one point its "has" and the next it's "had". She kept going into a present first person. Telling the story as it was happening that very moment. .....oh yeah and the miss-use of "forever".... God that irked me!
2) high school boys and his kiss are very alike. Heart breaker bad boy falls for goody goody church going girl. Two boys one girl. Triangle galore. Someone gets sick and ppl end up in the hospital (lol). Guitars, journals, and song writing.
3) am I just missing something or do ALL her stories revolve around each other. Why does one book have Nicole and Matt then another has Sara and her crush Matt (same Matt) then Sara Nicole and that other chick (I haven't read it yet but I think it's either her fake bf story or first kiss wars. *shrugs*)
Anywho's. besides all this ramble. The story is cute. The characters are just as lovable as ally and griffin. And at least Ally and Nicole know who the best match is for them!

EXCELLENT I LOVE THIS BOOK

This book is so well detailed and I even connected with the book -which I rarely do- And I actually cried a little was extremely happy at times and just over all I loved the characters in the book and the author. Please please make a second book to this book like where Nicole and Matt being engaged or something like that anyways I'm looking forward to reading other books written by Melanie marks I do believe that she is my all time favorite author now

Better than some of her other stuff

She has some usage issues & repetitive, & often inappropriately worded phrases, consistent across all of her books that I've read: eg. If one more heroine's heart tried to "pounce out of her chest", or "do an acrobat" (slutty little hearts), I'm gunna plotz.
I don't know if the book I started on was self published & that's why it was sooooo rough & unpolished & read like it had been the first draft from a spazzy teenager (I truly wondered if she was, until I read some of her earlier stuff, like this book), but this book was practically a vacation for my perturbed mind (perturbed by all the distracting issues of the first one, "My Brother's Best Friend" or some such title). Much more refined & readable; there weren't as many errors to distract from the storyline, which was actually a fun storyline.
Story-wise, I liked that the characters had enough dimension that the ending wasn't super obvious, that was masterfully done. However, the ending felt rushed & exceedingly abrupt. Like the author has a deadline to meet or wasn't that taken with her take anymore. I enjoy a good resolution; I hate unresolved issues at the end of a piece of fiction, it's too much like the never ending story of real life (not "true life"), which I have in spades & is not what I seek in a fictional novel.
Also, the heroine reads like a Mormon girl; a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, yet it's as though the author tried to make her seem like a Non-Denominational Protestant Christian. I think that's a shame, & I think the "Christian Lit" community black balling LDS Literature is a bigotry that has persisted for far too long.
So the girl is LDS, why does that mean you can't sell the book? Who didn't love Tevya from "Fiddler on the Roof"? Or the cute kid from "Life of Pi"? Or any other 'day in the life of' story from ANY other religion? Mormons are Christians too. If you call yourself a Christian, it seems to me, and you say you're following the God of Love, you can't suppress novels about other good peoples.
That's my opinion, anyway. In this day and age, that such bigotry still exists is ridiculous and horrifying.
Anyway, if you're not distracted by everyone "looking like a puppy who wants their belly scratched", & you like light fun, teenage romance, &, in this case, not much resolution, here's your next read.
