You know that you are in for a good story when you are introduced to the heroine as she is finding her strength and who she is as a woman. Bethany Lopez got it right in "I Choose You" by starting the main character, Nicole, out flexing her individuality and daring to go after the life she really wants. Instead of trotting the path expecting of her by becoming the preacher's wife and dedicating her life to his career, she ditches Jake and her family to find a life that will make her happy. As she moves on with her life, without her family, Nic hangs on to some of the religious teachings drilled into her, specifically no sex before marriage. This point is rather the crux of the story between Nic and Kent.
Although the best word to describe Bethany Lopez's novel is "sweet", I think she did a wonderful job capturing the fears and doubts of Nicole and Kent. They both come with baggage, but not the kind of baggage that makes you feel as though you are reading a daytime soap opera. It somehow seems real because it isn't quite so dramatic, but rather normal. The lack of extreme drama allows you to simply focus on the growing love between the main characters and root for them that they finally get over their fears and see how great they are together. It would be easy to make snide comments about her decision to remain a virgin, but I think Lopez does a spectacular job of ...

Good book but I think I like the first in the series the best. I am still looking forward to the next in the series and I really like this author,

Sweet Story

I think the best way to describe this book is sweet. There aren't any volatile characters, no misunderstandings, no conflict, no OW, and no real angst. There is one scene with sexual content that I would consider very tame. If you thrive on books having one or multiple of the previously mentioned factors then this book is not for you.
The h is firm in her belief in no sex before marriage. The H accepts this. They both try to make a relationship work between them which is basically what the book is about: them two going from new friends to dating to falling in love. The H is really a great guy. He isn't a player although he certainly has the looks and body to be one so he fits the h perfectly since she is sweet, generous, loving, and gorgeous. The H thinks the h is too good for him and the h thinks he is crazy for thinking that since he has so much to offer any woman (he really is perfect but he fails to see that because of childhood drama and social differences).
If you want a nice, quick, simple, and sweet read then this is the book for you. I personally prefer more substance in my books but overall this was not a bad read. I wasn't bored or annoyed but I wasn't enthralled by it either.

I was so excited to read about Kent. When I first met him in Make It Last, I wasn't sure if I'd like him in the long haul, but he really won me over in this one. I loved how sweet he was with Nicole. They really make a sweet couple. The best word for me to describe this series is, sweet. Overall, I love this series. It's not overly complex, but the issues these couples face are real issues. Definitely recommend this series if you are looking for short, romantic reads.
