If time is a premium and you want to get fit

If time is a premium and you want to get fit then this is the book for you. The author has devised a no nonsense workout plan based on the most recent ideas about workout efficiency. The idea is to work out intensely for 16 to 20 min three times a week. Although I haven't done this exact plan, I do something very similar and I can attest that this idea is extremely effective if you stick with it.
Additionally, all exercises can be done at home. Only a few require more than a little space. No equipment is needed except your body (and a timer). 48 progressively harder body weight exercises are well presented and illustrated. The exercise routines are explained in a crystal clear fashion.
The workouts presented are good ones and focus on legs, core and pushing. However, personally, I would have like to see some upper arm pulling exercises (rows, pullups, towel curls, etc).
The book website is an excellent resource well worth checking out.

It works!

I just finished the first week and was going to wait until I got through the whole system, but I HAD to write this up! I've already dropped about two pounds and I must say I was a bit sore after each of the workout days. The website has built-in timers for each pool and you can link your Facebook account into it as well, which makes accountability very easy!
The information in the dieting section is concise and well-written. The author also gives web sites for you to further track calories, nutrition, etc. His no-nonsense information also includes lists of foods for each kind of nutritent (carb, fat, protein) so it makes shopping MUCH easier.
More on the website (maxcapacitytraining.com) has the descriptions of each exercise and at the bottom of the page others who have already done that day posts their #s, which can give you an indication on where you stand. I think this also helps build a community of people who are doing this workout!
If you try the website I would definitely recommend buying the book as it does contain alot of good information.
Warning: These workouts are INTENSE! Short, but INTENSE! For instance, the first week is 50-10, which is 50 secs of work and 10 secs of rest for FOUR rounds... This is 16 mins! If you want to see fat loss and get in shape without hours of cardio, this is a great program!
UPDATE: FINISHED the book today! (4/21/2012) Would recommend it stand alone or (as I used it) in conjunction with other workouts. Lost over an inch off my waist, an inch off each thigh - about seven inches from the measuring points total, and about 3% BF (from ~15% to ~12%). You will be surprised how effective it is and it's great to finish the 12 weeks!
UPDATE #2: (8/25/2012) FINISHED round two last month! Did it with my wife and had a FB group this time. Lost about 5 lbs this time and another 1" around the waist (which is okay since weight loss is not my main goal now). I had a 10-30% improvement on all the exercises (average of about 20%). My wife dropped about 15lbs and has gained a great amount of strength. Friends that did it (several ppl we didn't know before starting the group) have been amazed at their increased endurance and strength. One person is on his third round now and is so impressed he is doing it perpetually. I'll be doing a third round this fall. Search for the FB group and join in anytime!

This book was a waste of my money

This book was a waste of my money. I would say it was a waste of my time, but it was so short that it took me no time at all to read it.
This is a guys' book, written by a guy. It is riddled with offensive language and quotes. Oh, an vegetarians will not like what he has to say.
The workout plan is NOT for beginners. It is NOT for all ages. And it is NOT for women, unless these women are already fit and strong. If you are a twenty year old man, who already works out (and has really good knees), then this might be a good choice for you. Otherwise, don't waste your money on this plan. Seriously, elevated push ups and squat pulses on day two? I actually laughed out loud when I saw the handstand push-ups.
The diet section is nothing new. Most of it is common knowledge, with just a few strange tips.
The writer himself admits that he is lazy. His writing reflects this sentiment. The way I see it, some young guy wanted to make a lot of money and figured out that books on weight loss do just that.
To say the least, I am not impressed.
