Lindy Zart is a keeper!
By M. L. Stephens
I love discovering new authors and I'm glad to say that this one is a keeper!

I read this book without reading the synopsis because sometimes you just have to go for it. I didn't have the slightest clue as to the storyline but let me say, "Wow." I was pleasantly surprised.

From the hallways of a small town school, to the top secret facilities where strange things occur, Ordinary takes the reader on a journey unlike any other.

I immediately connected with Honor's need to protect and care for those around her and caught myself wishing her in and out of situations. The desire to learn Christian's fate kept the pages turning, while Ryker's confusion made me want to slap sense into him. Isaac's internal struggle instantly captivated me and made him one of my favorite characters.

I look forward to reading more Lindy Zart!

Amazing!

Rating: 5 out of 5 Fairies

Upon reading the synopsis of this book I thought I might like it. Once I finally started reading it, I was utterly confused. The synopsis didn't match up with like the first four chapters! What I was reading was enjoyable, but not what I expected.

I love Honor as a character. She's so kind, mature, and constantly concerned with others around her. As stated in the book many times, she lives up to her name. She is definitely honorable. The fact that she is constantly standing up for people who are being mistreated just made me love her even more. When she went to Christians home to check on him, I was in awe. She truly cared about others, even when she had places to be. Even with his mother treating her like she did, she continued to be concerned. She's gonna be a special UDK. I just know it.

Ryder. Ryder. Ryder. You evil little man you. I knew something wasn't right when he met her in the restroom. The dialogue they had screamed creep! And then the fact that he was constantly monitoring her and finding reasons to interact with her, only screamed desperation even more. He's a cold-hearted man, and I think he's gonna try to turn Honor cold-hearted as well. Good luck with that one buddy.

Nealon is a confusing person. He has mood swings worse than a hormonal teenager. Seriously! In the beginning he's seems to have a heart and then BAM! outta nowhere he becomes cold and starts calling Honor by her last name. And he screams those horrible, hateful things at her. He's got a heart and it shows at times. But he also knows how to appear cold. I'm sure he's had a rough past and that's what made him that way, but sheesh! Lighten up a little mister.

I gotta give Honor kudos. She is one heck of a fighter. When they come for her once she had started the transformation she was not going with them. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. Once she was finally captured and started her training she gave it her all. She read what she was supposed to, did her physical training (regardless of whether or not Ryder was unwelcomed by her side), and still found a way to remain who she is. She refuses to change into the cold-hearted people that she is surrounded by. And thank goodness for that. I think she's gonna be Christians savior. And on that note...WHAT THE HELL, RYDER?!?!?!

And talk about a cliffhanger. When I saw the words to be continued, I thought my eyes were going to pop outta my head. I was. SO. not ready for it to end. And now I'm absolutely dying for the next one. PLEASE!!! I'm begging you. Put me outta my misery, Lindy Zart. Please. I NEED to know what happens next....

Because of that bloody cliffhanger, I'll bite hook, line, and sinker. 5 stars because I'm as addicted as...well...as an addict lol.

Something borrowed something pretty darn good
By J.L. D.
I borrowed Ordinary (The Anything But Series Book 1)by Lindy Zart from a friend. So I don't own it.

I don't usually read zombie stories. So, it's a good thing this isn't really a zombie story. In this world where Honor is there are the UD's and the UDK's. They are both the product of a virus that's been accidentally let loose on the world years ago .(I take it from the story that Accidentally is a debatable term.) It has manifested itself in two forms, those who are the undead(UD's) and those who can control, contain and eliminate the undead(UDK's).

Or is that true?

It's no wonder Honor has doubts and the inability to trust anyone when she's lived a life that's been a completed lie. It becomes even worse when discovering that her mother has been in on the lie all this time. It will be no help that there are a lot more revelations coming her way that she most likely will find hard to swallow.

Honor is an ordinary teen with the usual friends and a few undesirables around her. It turns out that the undesirables, Ryder and Natasha, are part of the UDK's and are there to help integrate her into thier ranks so that she can help control the UD's. The problem with that is that one of the UD's is someone she knows and though not well acquainted with, she likes.

Christian is her age and in her class and he's just manifest his active virus at the same time that Honor has. It's in part, because she saw him undergoing the affects that she was noticed by the other UDK's, though she's apparently already on the watch list.

Drawn into the whole mess against her will she attempts to maintain her own code of moral conduct despite the pressure that's being applied by those who are attempting to paint the UD's as something horrible and mindless. Despite the dangers involved she'll have to make a stand and do what she thinks is right.

The story seems a bit weak on demonstrating where the character is now and what needs to be done to reach where she'll be at the end. But, that's because it's more a story of how despite the evidence and the odds she attempts to maintain who she is throughout.

I like Ordinary and am looking forward to hearing the rest of the story. There are at least four characters dealing with conflicted lives. It will be interesting to see which ones work it all out and make it to the end.
